DOLE Transfers Livelihood Project to Basey Sohoton Service Cooperative

BASEY, Samar, Philippines — The turnover ceremony for the DOLE-Assisted Livelihood Project, titled “Livelihood Enhancement in Tour Guiding Services and Activities,” was successfully conducted today, August 8, 2024, at the Sohoton Visitor Center, So. Wespal, Brgy. Guirang, Basey, Samar.

This project, supported by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), includes a grant of ₱500,000.00 for kayaks, paddles, life jackets, and other essential tools.

Representing the LGU Basey, Mayor Luz Basas Chu Ponferrada, PESO Manager Edwin Bajen, and other key officials attended the event. The DOLE delegation included Engr. Aleksei Ceasar D. Abellar, Chief LEO/SFO Head; Meldy C. Mansanade, Accountant/DOLE RO8; Ma. Chulla Corpuz, LEO III/Livelihood Focal; Karen Libres, LEO III/Employment; Renz Alvarez, Livelihood Specialist; and Aminah Kaye Sano, Livelihood Specialist.

Following the turnover, the DOLE SFO team visited Sohoton Cave & Natural Bridge to explore additional ways to support the tourist site.
