HINABANGAN, SAMAR – Samar Governor Sharee Ann Tan joined the soldiers of the 801st Infantry Brigade in celebrating their 39th founding anniversary held at Camp Daza in Barangay Fatima, Hinabangan on July 2, 2025.
As the guest speaker, Governor Tan shared how her administration has worked to bring peace to the province by helping end armed conflict. She admitted the journey was difficult but said that progress has been made through strong partnerships and continued efforts.
“Our people must be united to keep Samar peaceful. That’s the only way we can move forward,” she said.
She also introduced the One Values Program (OVP) — a moral and values formation campaign that encourages good citizenship, love for family, respect for women and children, youth empowerment, environmental care, and spirituality.
“I believe that if we build the values of our people, they will be more productive and develop love for Samar and for our country,” Tan added.
Aside from the governor’s message, the event also honored soldiers for their service. Three troops were awarded the Gawad sa Kaunlaran medal for their contributions to development programs, while four others received the Military Merit Medal for their bravery in combat.
The event highlighted not just the brigade’s founding, but also the strong teamwork between the local government and the military in building a safer, more united Samar.
