CALBIGA, Samar — A member of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered to the 802nd Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 8 on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, in Barangay Canticum, Calbiga, Samar.

Police Capt. Mark Daniel Maraquilla, Officer-in-Charge of the 802nd MCRMFB8, wholeheartedly received the surrender of a rebel known only as “Mariz,” 25 years old resident of Calbiga, Samar.

According to a report from the Police Regional Police, “Mariz” is a member of the Bugsok Platoon, Squad 2 Sentro de Gravedad (SDG), South Samar 1, SRC SESAME.

The negotiation was successful through coordination with the Area Police Command-Visayas, Calbiga Municipal Police Station, and 2nd Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company.

Police officials said “Mariz” is now under the custody of the 802nd MC, RMFB 8 for the necessary processing and documentation to avail of the benefits under the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program or E-CLIP.

E-CLIP is a government program for our fellow citizens who are members of rebel groups and want to change their ways and return to the fold of the government to reunite with their families. The main goal of the program is to help our fellow citizens in their transformation in life.

Police Regional Director, Police B/Gen. Reynaldo Pawid, again appealed to the public to “continue choosing true peace and to lay down their arms, without hesitation, to surrender or approach our police stations or camps for immediate processing of their surrender.”
