The distribution event, led by SPPO Chief PCol. Antonietto Eric Mendoza and SPPO Admin PLCol. Edwin Barbosa, took place at the Convention Center in Calbayog City. The goal was to strengthen the capability of the Regional Special Operations Task Group – LEYSA (RSOTG-LEYSA).

According to information from the SPPO, about 60 firearms were allocated for RSOTG-LEYSA, including 17 Galil Rifles, 39 M16 rifles, and 4 M4 rifles. Each of these rifles is already supplied with approximately 210 rounds of ammunition.

Additionally, 12 Dasan Basic Assault Rifles were given to the 1st and 2nd Samar Police Mobile Force Companies, which operate in various parts of Samar.

The two police units also received 34 new ballistic helmets as part of their protective gear for their operations.

Furthermore, around 40 units of CTG 40mm HEDF-LV were supplied to RSOTG-LEYSA, with 25 units specifically allocated to the two PNP Mobile Force companies.

In a statement, PCol. Mendoza emphasized that the goal of the police hierarchy is to strengthen the force’s capacity to address security threats and maintain peace and order in the province of Samar.

“This distribution underscores the PNP’s dedication to safeguarding the community during this crucial election period. RSOTG-LEYSA and our Mobile Force units are essential in preserving peace and order. Let us utilize these resources responsibly to protect the people and maintain stability in the province,” PCol. Mendoza stated. | Rommel L. Rutor, The Samar Chronicle
