CATBALOGAN CITY — The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Catbalogan City swiftly responded to a call from the Catbalogan National Comprehensive High School’s administrative clerk, Louie Chavez, reporting a massive python discovered in the school canteen’s ceiling around 2:36 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, in Purok 7, Barangay Mercedes.

Led by Fire Chief Inspector Jimmy C. Pasague, the City Fire Marshall, the BFP team, including new recruits, promptly arrived at the scene to safely recover the snake. After assessing the situation, the firefighters carefully removed the 13-foot Reticulated Python from the ceiling, a process that took several minutes.

Following the successful rescue operation, the python was turned over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for proper handling.
