THE Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in Eastern Samar has received a donation of agricultural land from the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Balangkayan, Eastern Samar.

The ceremonial signing of the Deed of Donation took place on March 19, 2024, at the Mayor’s Office, with PSA RSSO 8 Regional Director Wilma A. Perante representing the National Statistician and Civil Registrar General Usec. Claire Dennis S. Mapa, and Mayor Edith Anne T. Basco representing LGU Balangkayan.

Mayor Basco emphasized that the donation of the 1,596 sq. meters lot in Sitio Sabang, Barangay 2, Balangkayan, Eastern Samar, aims to make PSA Eastern Samar’s services more accessible to the residents of the municipality and the entire province. She specified that PSA will have exclusive use of the land for its governmental functions.

Regional Director Perante expressed gratitude for LGU Balangkayan’s generosity, noting that this donation signifies a need for more lobbying efforts for budget support from the Regional Development Council (RDC) for the proposed construction of a PSA-owned office building.

Witnesses at the signing included Engr. Jemsel D. Valdez, Municipal Engineer of Balangkayan, and Mr. Ronnie A. Bajado, Chief Statistical Specialist of PSA Eastern Samar. Mr. Bajado mentioned that the donated land will be used for a future 2-storey office building, with hopes for construction and relocation to proceed soonest once the budget is secured.

The PSA field office is currently located at J.B. Japson Building Circumferential Road, Brgy. Balud, Borongan City, Eastern Samar. (PR)
