Former Rebels in San Jose de Buan Receive Houses as Part of Peace Efforts

CATBALOGAN CITY — Ten former rebels from San Jose de Buan received houses from the Samar Provincial Task Force Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict on April 5, 2024.

The houses, the first of 17 promised during peace engagements, signify government sincerity in eradicating insurgency.

Governor Sharee Ann Tan stated, “This is a testament that the government is sincere in its efforts to eradicate insurgency. We encourage those who haven’t surrendered yet, to return to the government, as we have prepared several programs for you.”

Senator Robinhood Padilla and constituents of San Jose de Buan, Samar signed a Pledge of Commitment for the Saad nga Balay program in San Jose de Buan, Samar (SPIO)

Senator Robinhood Padilla pledged personal funds to cover the construction of one house. Various national government agencies and stakeholders also pledged support.
