SAN JOSE DE BUAN, Philippines — In a significant step toward peace and reintegration, twenty-three (23) former members of the New People’s Army (NPA) recently submitted their applications for amnesty at an orientation event organized by the National Amnesty Commission (NAC) of Samar.
The event, led by Ms. Jazmine Odyssa B. Lutao, PDO III of the Local Amnesty Board, took place at the headquarters of the 87th Infantry Battalion, Poblacion 2, San Jose de Buan, Samar.
The amnesty orientation and initial acceptance ceremony marked a pivotal moment for the former rebels as they embarked on a new chapter in their lives, choosing to return to the government’s fold. Representatives from the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) also attended, showing their unwavering support for the participants and emphasizing the community’s collective commitment to their reintegration.
