AFP-PNP-PCG Joint Forces Dismantle 2 NPA Units in Eastern Visayas

CATBALOGAN CITY – The AFP-PNP-PCG National Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Council (JPSCC) recently declared the dismantling of two New People’s Army (NPA) units in Eastern Visayas.

The officially dismantled units were identified as Platoon 2 of Island Committee 47 Levox operating in Leyte, Biliran, and Southern Leyte, and the Elcon Platoon of Sub-Regional Committee Browser operating in Samar and Eastern Samar.

Earlier this year, the JTF Storm declared the four remaining Guerilla Fronts (GF) in Eastern Visayas as dismantled, attributing the success to the implementation of programs under the National Task Force – Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).

Mayor Alfred Romualdez, Chairman of the Regional Peace and Order Council, praised the efforts of the 8th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, and the Joint Task Force Storm, highlighting the collective commitment in ending the insurgency problem in Eastern Visayas.

Major General Camilo Z. Ligayo, the 8th Infantry Division Commander, emphasized the importance of supporting local government programs for peaceful conflict resolution. He urged the community to condemn violence and support peace initiatives for lasting peace and socio-economic progress.
