TACLOBAN CITY — The municipality of Alangalang in Leyte launched the Walang Gutom 2027 or Food Stamp Program today, June 13, aimed at combating hunger in the community.
The activity and validation of potential beneficiaries were led by Mayor Lovely Yu-Castro, along with Undersecretary Eduardo M. Punay, Regional Director Grace Q. Subong, ARD for Operations Antonio Dolaota, and MSWDO Marilyn Superada.
The program aims to reduce hunger in low-income households by providing financial assistance through Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards. These EBT cards can be used to purchase food from partner merchant stores.
A total of 956 beneficiaries from various barangays in Alangalang, Leyte, are expected to benefit from the program.
