PALO, LEYTE, Philippines – The Police Regional Office 8 proudly welcomes its new Regional Director, P/Brig. Gen. Jay Reyes Cumigad, during a significant Joint Turnover and Assumption of Offices Ceremony led by P/Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil, Chief of the Philippine National Police, at Camp B/Gen. Rafael T. Crame, Quezon City, on October 9, 2024.
Before his new role, RD Cumigad served as the head of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Highway Patrol Group (HPG). His distinguished career began with his graduation from the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA), “PATNUBAY” Class of 1995, equipping him with extensive experience to address the challenges ahead and guide the region toward progress and safety.
RD Cumigad succeeds outgoing Regional Director Pawid who has been reassigned to the Directorate for Operations. In his farewell remarks, P/Brig. Gen. Pawid expressed heartfelt gratitude to the men and women of PRO 8 for their unwavering support and dedication. He emphasized his commitment to enhancing personnel welfare and achieving organizational objectives during his nearly one year in office.
“As PRO 8 transitions to new leadership, I am confident the region is in capable hands under Cumigad,” he remarked.
In his assumption speech, Gen. Cumigad shared his optimism and readiness for the challenges ahead. “As PRO 8 embarks on this new chapter, we are committed to fostering a safe and secure environment for our communities, especially with the upcoming 2025 National and Local Elections. The collective efforts of our officers will drive positive changes in Eastern Visayas law enforcement,” he stated. (PR)
