CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines — The City Government of Catbalogan, under the leadership of City Mayor Dexter Uy, has established itself as a top contender in the Eastern Visayas.
In the latest Cities and Municipalities Competitive Index (CMCI) released by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Catbalogan secured the fourth position among the seven cities in the Eastern Visayas Region. Furthermore, it ranked ninth out of 33 component cities across the Visayas, underscoring its growing prominence in the region.
The CMCI rankings are based on a thorough assessment across five key pillars: Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, Infrastructure, Resiliency, and Innovation. Catbalogan has consistently excelled, especially in Government Efficiency, which remains one of its strongest areas.
This latest achievement builds on Catbalogan’s recognition last year as the 2nd Most Improved Component City in the Philippines.
The city’s progress is a testament to the strategic initiatives and reforms implemented by the current administration. Central to this success is Mayor Dexter Uy’s #KaribhongKatbalogan Development Agenda, a comprehensive plan focused on enhancing economic activities and fostering local industries.
Catbalogan’s impressive CMCI performance not only highlights its competitive advantages but also reinforces its commitment to sustainable development and inclusive growth.
As the city continues to climb the rankings, it demonstrates that visionary leadership and a clear development strategy can drive significant progress.
