CATBALOGAN CITY — In preparation for the upcoming 21st Manaragat Festival this August, choreographers and festival artists in Catbalogan City gathered for a Convergence Meeting facilitated by the City Tourism, Culture, Arts and Information Office (CTCAIO) as part of the extended activities of the 2024 National Arts Month (NAM) celebration.
The meeting, held on Friday, March 15, 2024, aimed to coordinate and plan for the festival, which will feature folk songs from the book “Mga Karantahon nga Samarnon” compiled by the late Mrs. Amparo Ma. ‘Paring’ Cinco-Tizon.
One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the plan to establish an association among Catbaloganon choreographers and festival artists. This association seeks to promote and utilize local talents in the creative industry, enhancing the cultural landscape of Catbalogan.
The positive response from local artists has paved the way for subsequent coordination and an upcoming capacity-building session scheduled for May 2024, as excitement for the Manaragat Festival begins to build.
These activities are made possible with the support of City Mayor Dexter Uy and the Local Culture & Arts Council of Catbalogan City (LCAC), in collaboration with the Catbalogan City Tourism Council (CTC).
