The Police Regional Office-Eastern Visayas (PRO-8) has deployed a total of 150 personnel, including 21 members from the Regional Maritime Unit-8, six personnel from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and 16 from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP-8), as part of an inter-agency response to assist the Typhoon Kristine-stricken Bicol region.
“The Philippine National Police, as a member agency of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), reaffirms its commitment to providing assistance during these challenging times, ensuring that public service reaches areas in greatest need. This mission is made possible with the support of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD)-8, whose provision of essential resources equips us for effective action,” said PRO-8 Director Brigadier General Jay Cumigad during the send-off ceremony at Camp Ruperto Kangleon in Palo, Leyte, on Thursday, October 24, 2024.
Additional teams from OCD-8, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and other partner agencies have also joined the emergency response.
