Filipino advocacy groups held a protest in Mendiola, Manila on April 29, opposing Japan’s continued support for fossil fuel projects in the Philippines and across Asia.

The demonstration coincided with the visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba to the country.

Protesters from the Asian Peoples’ Movement on Debt and Development (APMDD), Philippine Movement for Climate Justice (PMCJ), and other organizations called for an end to fossil fuel financing.

Other green groups such as Don’t Gas Asia, Sanlakas, and ZOTO joined the action to highlight the environmental and social costs of Japan’s energy investments. interviews to amplify grassroots voices on climate justice.
