CALBAYOG, Philippines – In preparation for the upcoming May 2025 elections, the Samar Police Provincial Office (SPPO) deployed a special election task group on Thursday, aimed at ensuring a peaceful and orderly voting process.
The formal send-off ceremony for the regional special operations task group was held at the Calbayog Convention Center in Barangay Capoocan, Calbayog City, on January 9, 2025.
This marks the deployment of a highly trained and specialized task force assigned to secure the 1st District of Samar throughout the election period. According to SPPO Director Col. Antonius Eric A. Mendoza, the main objective is to safeguard the electoral process and ensure peace and security in the region.
Among the key officials present at the ceremony were PCOL Dennis Jose S. Llavore, Deputy Regional Director for Operations, as well as local government leaders and representatives from partner agencies. The task group’s deployment to “hotspot” areas aims to ensure that voters can participate in the elections in a safe, secure environment.
In his address, Col. Mendoza emphasized the importance of the RSOTG-LEYSA’s role in maintaining law and order during the election period. He reminded the personnel of their core duties based on the principles of Readiness, Responsibility, and Resilience.
“Your mission is clear: to coordinate efficiently, uphold integrity, and protect the democratic process. Your presence reassures the people that their safety and the integrity of the elections are our highest priorities,” he said.
The RSOTG-LEYSA personnel will be strategically stationed across the 1st District of Samar to bolster security, prevent lawlessness, and ensure that citizens can cast their votes freely and without disruption.
The Samar PPO is also calling on the public to cooperate with law enforcement, report any suspicious activities, and contribute to making this election safe, credible, and peaceful for all. | via Ricky Bautista
