Borongan City officials explore collaborative opportunities with Korean Consulate to enhance development

CATBALOGAN CITY — Borongan City officials, led by Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda, recently engaged in a diplomatic mission to the Korean Consulate aimed at enhancing cooperation between Borongan City and the Republic of Korea.

The meeting, held earlier today, February 29, 2024, focused on bolstering agriculture, employment, and tourism prospects in Borongan City.

Mayor Agda, along with a delegation comprising Vice Mayor Emman Tiu Sonco, Councilor Vic Franco, and other city officials, met with the Consul General of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Song Sewon, to discuss potential areas of collaboration.

During the meeting, Mayor Agda expressed Borongan City’s interest in leveraging Korean expertise in agriculture to enhance farming practices. He also expressed hopes for Boronganons to explore employment opportunities as seasonal farm workers in Korea.

Additionally, Mayor Agda extended an invitation to the Consul General to experience the natural beauty of Borongan and participate in the upcoming Padul-ong Fiesta, highlighting Borongan’s appeal as a nature and adventure tourist destination.

The Consul General expressed enthusiasm towards Mayor Agda’s proposals and affirmed the consulate’s commitment to fostering collaborative initiatives. He pledged to facilitate linkages to advance opportunities in agriculture, employment, and tourism between the two nations.

Mayor Agda expressed optimism for the future, foreseeing a mutually beneficial relationship that will enhance the welfare of Borongan’s citizens and strengthen ties between Borongan City and the Republic of Korea. (With reports from Borongan City Information Office)
