Various women’s groups and progressives held a recent protest in front of the Department of Agriculture central office, demanding food security and an end to profit-driven policies.
The National Federation of Peasant Women, Amihan, together with APMDD and Oriang, led the protest, citing “systemic-wide corruption” under the Marcos administration as a major concern.
The demonstration, part of Asia-wide actions on Rural Women’s Day, highlighted the struggles of rural and peasant women in the Philippines and globally.
