32 Journos, Media Outfits Honored At Pagdasig 2025

TACLOBAN CITY–Thirty-two journalists and media organizations were recognized during the “Pagdasig 2025: Communications Students’ Choice Awards” at the Leyte Normal University (LNU)-HRDC Audio-Visual Studio in Tacloban City on Wednesday, May 7.

Graydelle Janzy Cahayag, president of LNU’s Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Communication Student Organization, said the event “aims to celebrate and recognize media personalities and platforms who have significantly inspired, informed, and influenced today’s Communication students.”

Other awardees from outside Tacloban delivered their messages of gratitude through recorded videos presented during the ceremony.

Launched in 2021 during the height of the pandemic, the Pagdasig Awards was co-organized by the Asian Development Foundation College (ADFC) and the University of the Philippines Tacloban College (UPTC), which also offer Communication programs.

“‘Pagdasig’ is a Bisaya word meaning ‘to inspire’. True to its name, the event was created to rekindle the passion of students and media professionals, to keep creating, informing and telling powerful stories,” the organizers said.

The Pagdasig Awards drew national attention in 2023 when it was featured on ABS-CBN TV Patrol on November 30.

“This milestone highlights the growing impact and credibility of the event, showcasing the dedication of BA Communication students in organizing a recognition platform that resonates beyond the academic community,” the communication student groups added.
